Known Problem Rollback fixes IE mode in Windows 10 and 11

Microsoft has released a Known Issue Rollback (KIR) update for business customers. The team solves problems with IE mode. After the updates in May, users complained that the tabs had stopped responding in IE mode. Microsoft now offers a solution.

As Online magazine reported, there is now a well-known retrospective update that fixes Edge issues. Microsoft had confirmed that IE mode had ceased to function as intended after previous Windows updates. Fixed IE mode tabs do not respond when there is a modal dialog on the page. However, this is often required in the entry of corporate networks and, therefore, is a major problem for those involved.

Automatic update

The KIR feature allows Microsoft to promptly and reliably correct errors for all users who have activated the Windows Automatic Update feature, such as a standard emergency update. Microsoft automatically restores PCs with the Known Troubleshooting feature. Computers will be restored to their previous update status and will receive a new, updated update. After all, independent users are not affected by this problem, as Edge’s IE mode has been special to the company since 2019. Microsoft provides information on the KIR problem and solution in: Windows Release Health Documentation.

IE mode tabs on Microsoft Edge may not respond

Fixed OS Build 22000.708, KB5014019: After installing KB5014019 and the latest updates, IE mode tabs on Microsoft Edge may not respond when the website displays modal dialog. Modal dialog is a form or dialog that requires the user to respond before continuing or interacting with other parts of a web page or application.

Developer Note: Sites affected by this issue call window.focus. Solution: This issue has been resolved by Known Issue Rollback (KIR). Note that it may take up to 24 hours for the solution to be pushed automatically into consumer devices and unmanaged business devices. Restarting your Windows device may allow the solution to be applied to your device immediately.
