Next Oppo Flagship Smartphone Can Provide 240W Charging Support: Report
While Apple continues to offer its users a charging speed of 20-30W, Chinese brands are playing at a different level. You already have 150W charging phones on the market, but that won’t be the end of the charging battle.
There are reports of 200W charging coming to smartphones in the coming months, and now a new report suggests Oppo is already preparing its own 240W charging technology for smartphones.
With this support, the 4500mAh battery is expected to fully charge in just 9 minutes. Technically, the report does not specifically name Oppo, but it does say that Chinese OEM incorporates the feature. And with the company already rolling out technology earlier this year, it is thought Oppo is the brand in question here, focused on bringing this feature to its next smartphone.
Oppo has its own Find X series on the market that has lifted the envelope for its performance, design and charging technology, so it is easy to expect the company to bring its new charging feature to the same customer list.
Fast charging has become a necessity for users these days, and levels have risen in the last 12 to 24 months. Today, you can find a phone with 120W fast charging support for less than Rs 30,000 on the market.
And while some brands take the chargers out of the box altogether (look at you Samsung and Apple), these Chinese models take the competition to another tangent with their offerings. The speed of wireless charging compared to wireless charging has been huge, and the gap continues to widen with each passing day.
There are concerns about the fast charging of the phone, which could have a long-term effect on the battery cycle, but many experts prefer that charging technology is not only about speed but also their overall performance.
